Position Overview:

The Buyer/Planner position is responsible for planning and buying of raw / packaging materials and other components required by the manufacturing plant. The primary focus of this position is to ensure materials are ordered and delivered on time consistent with the production schedule. In this role, you will have direct interaction with customers and suppliers and will manage the end-to-end supply chain.

This role will need to maintain strong communication with Warehouse, Procurement, Finance and Supply Chain. Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.


  • Run MRP in SAP Business One (B1) and release purchase request / orders to vendors / customers as recommended by the system. Maintain and update vendor/item master in SAP B1.
  • Monitor production schedule and ensure raw/packaging materials will be available on time.
  • Supervise and expedite rush orders and materials that are short and revises schedules to offset delays.
  • Weekly cycle counts for non-inventory materials in open PO’s, call suppliers for weekly shipments if needed
  • Effectively works with the Finance team to rectify any supplier payment issues.
    Research, qualify, and set up new suppliers.
  • Capable of capturing and transforming an idea / concept into a business opportunity while delivering positive results
  • Monitor and analyze vendor costs, lead times and delivery performance
    Proficient knowledge in Supply Chain Management
  • Resolve drivers of inventory variances in a timely manner, communicate impacts as necessary to internal and external contacts.
  • Inventory reconciliation is recorded in SAP B1 system in a timely and accurate manner
  • Keep manager informed of issues within area of assigned responsibility and escalate issues beyond scope of authority to appropriate parties.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Experience Levels, and Key Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain, Logistics, Operations management, or Business Administration.
  • 5+ years of Supply Chain experience (Buyer, Planner, or both) in a manufacturing environment.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency working with SAP required. Preferred experience with SAP Business one (B1).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel/Word)
  • High energy, driven and enthusiastic about opportunities to establish and implement new approaches
  • Attention to detail and organization skills a must.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and deliver results with minimal supervision.
  • Must be a problems solver and results-oriented with a high sense of urgency.
    Experience working with cross functional teams through project completion.
    Strong written and verbal communication skills. Have excellent customer service, interpersonal and intrapersonal skills
